We Should Remember

I read some comments on BBC site regarding the recent tension between China and Japan and I was shocked by some of comments. Some people criticized Chinese policy on human right. Some talked about how low crime rate Japan has and how dangerous China is. Some said how China is being stubborn and not letting go of the past. Some said China covered up its own history of cultural revolution and Tiananmen Square. I can't believe how people miss the point on this whole issue. China may not be perfect. The government may have its own issue. Economically and politically, Japan is more stable. But that is not the point! The reason why the Chinese reaction is so big is that we shouldn't let the history covered. What happened really did happen. People should know and hopefully we can learn not to repeat ourselves. People were brutally killed during those years and we should remember. May be Chinese government cover up Tiananmen internally too. But two wrongs don't make things right. That doesn't make Japanese government trying to cover up Nanjing right! May be Japanese government apologize publicly. But politicians keep on going to pay tribute to war criminal means they don't mean it when they apologize. It is not about letting go of the past. It is about we should remember what happen and don't let it happen again. What would people say if German said they didn't start World War II? Or they pay tribute to Hitler every year? What Japan doing here is no different than that. And why people don't see that?
